How does the Daily Loss Limit work?

Daily Loss Limit Calculation

The Daily Loss Limit is the maximum amount you are allowed to lose during a single trading day. It is always calculated as a percentage of the previous day's closing balance, and it applies both in the Challenge and in the Hola Prime (Sim. Funded) Account, depending on the account type.

  • For 1 Step Prime Challenge: The Daily Loss Limit is 3% of the previous day's closing balance.

  • For 2 Step Pro and Prime Challenge (both Phase 1 and Phase 2): The Daily Loss Limit is 5% (4% for $200K accounts) of the previous day's closing balance.

  • For Direct Account: The Daily Loss Limit is 3% of the previous day's closing balance.

The rule states that the sum of your current floating PnL and your realized PnL on all closed positions must not exceed the Daily Loss Limit.

The Daily Loss Limit is reset every day at 17:00 EST server time, based on the previous day's closing balance.

Examples:

1 Step Prime account (3% limit)

  • Previous day's closing balance: 110,000 USD.

  • Daily Loss Limit: 3% of 110,000 = 3,300 USD.

  • That means your equity or balance cannot drop below 106,700 USD (110,000 − 110,000 × 3%) at any time during the trading day.

 2 Step Prime/Pro account (5% limit)

  • Previous day's closing balance: 110,000 USD.

  • Daily Loss Limit: 5% of 110,000 = 5,500 USD.

  • That means your equity or balance cannot drop below 104,500 USD (110,000 − 110,000 × 5%) at any time during the trading day.

 For $200K accounts:

  • Previous day's closing balance: 200,000 USD.

  • Daily Loss Limit: 4% of 200,000 = 8,000 USD.

  • That means your equity or balance cannot drop below 192,000 USD (200,000 − 200,000 × 4%) at any time during the trading day.

 Direct account (3% limit)

  • Previous day's closing balance: 110,000 USD.

  • Daily Loss Limit: 3% of 110,000 = 3,300 USD.

  • That means your equity or balance cannot drop below 106,700 USD (110,000 − 110,000 × 3%) at any time during the trading day.
